Temporary lighting and electrics for data centre construction
The short answer
Data halls and long corridors need even light with no dark gaps, and light that stays on if the temporary supply drops. Most sites use 110V LED rope light (LED strip light) along corridors and halls with emergency battery packs, dual voltage LED floodlights for open areas, and 110V Powerdrop to put power on every floor.
What each product does
110V LED rope light: 25m and 50m reels, 780 lm per metre (60 LEDs per metre) or 1,200 lm per metre (super bright, 180 LEDs per metre), IP65, links up to 100m.
Emergency 110V LED rope light (emergency strip light): add the 138223 pack and the rope light runs for up to 3 hours at reduced brightness in a power cut (up to 50W of load).
Dual voltage floodlights: 50W to 400W, 100 to 277V, so the same light works on 110V or 230V as the project moves from temporary to permanent power.
Emergency floodlight: a 100W floodlight with the 137646 conversion pack gives 3 hours of emergency light.
Powerdrop: 100m runs with a socket every 5m or 10m, including moulded T-drop Powerdrop, plus 110V in-line RCDs.
Bigger packages
For data centre temporary electrics beyond lighting, we also supply LV switchboards, temporary distribution and GRP housings through Switchboards & Projects.
Can rope light (strip light) work as emergency lighting?
Yes. Add the 138223 emergency battery pack in line and the rope light keeps running for up to 3 hours at reduced brightness when the mains fails (up to 50W of load).
Is rope light the same as LED strip light?
Yes. Rope light, LED strip light and strip lighting are names for the same thing: a continuous run of LEDs in a flexible sleeve that gives even light with no dark gaps. Ours is 110V LED rope light, IP65, in 25m and 50m reels that link up to 100m.
